Requirement For Taking Online Course From Top University

Wow, what fun! If you are interested in trying to take part in online lectures, you need to know the following things.

1. The classes above are available on online lecture platforms that work with various campuses. You can join lectures by going to sites like coursera , edx , or other online lecture sites.

2. The classes above are open for free . However, if you want a certificate, there is an additional fee that must be paid in the range of 49-99 dollars (Rp. 668,000 – Rp. 1,352,000).

Apart from free classes, there are also paid classes . But you can, you know, look for scholarships for these paid classes.

3. Many of these online courses do not require an educational background . So high school graduates can follow along. Even so, choose a class that suits your skill level . There are classes with basic / introductory or introduction, intermediate, and advanced levels .

4. Before choosing a class, make sure you read and understand the class description and conditions . Including learning objectives and the level of material being taught.

5. Online classes have tutors who are lecturers and professors from their campus .

6. Usually, you can set your own class time. However, there is a timeframe and lecture system that needs to be followed . For example, lecture 4-9 hours per week for 12 weeks. That means, you have to follow the timeframe .

“I once attended an online lecture. There are (lecture materials in the form of) videos, quizzes, and assignments. Also a forum for discussion with other lecture participants. The lectures are flexible, but there is still a lecture period (study period) and deadlines for assignments,” explained Shanti , a Psychology alumni at the University of Indonesia.

7. Most classes use English as the medium of instruction . The good news is, you don’t need to have an English proficiency certificate to be able to take part. But, you do need to make an effort to communicate and understand English. The problem is that all materials and assignments will be in English. Apart from English, there are also lectures in Mandarin, Spanish, and other languages.

Yup, counting this class will help expedite your foreign language, right?

8. There will be assignments, projects, and exams to evaluate student performance .

9. Because the lectures are conducted online and can be arranged independently, the biggest obstacle to taking online lectures is commitment. Especially if the lecture is free, so you don’t feel like you’re spending any capital. Oftentimes the temptation to be lazy comes and if that is followed by online lectures you will fall apart.

10. It is very important to have an adequate supporting laptop , because that is where your lectures are accessed.
